"They Lie To Much": Examining the Impact of DEI in Contemporary Media and Society
Conscious Lee and Joy Ann Reid delve deep into a compelling conversation about representation, media, and the narrative of black culture in predominantly white spaces.
Happy Black History Month Again Conscious Kinfolks and Education is Elevation…
You should not be surprised that the outrage around DEI is all fueled with lies. Lets unravel some of the most timely and complex societal themes around equatable diversity that I hope offers a fresh perspective. As a Black Millennial in America I grew up understanding that my Black body and presence was scene as commodity to potential tokenized diversity desires for some company or organization to prove they aint racist. Now as a 34 year old, I see how the entire notion of diversity, equity and inclusion was deception on both the left and right.
"DEI is only about race and gender."
“DEI is a cure for institutional violence.”
"DEI is just about quotas or ticking boxes."
“DEI benefits Black people the most”
DEI is reverse discrimination."
In our latest Substack livestream of “Keeping it Conscious,” myself and Joy Ann Reid create a vibrant tapestry of discussion, navigating through the layered intricacies of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), the global influence of black culture, and the challenging narratives around meritocracy and representation. Here's what you'll find in this compelling conversation:
